“ When music turns electronic, the twist of a knob can change everything. Sound has hidden dimensions that can transport you to new, virtual environments. In fact, we have a whole genre based on this quality called Ambient music. Fueled by dozens of sophisticated new sound sculpting technologies and digital space machines, in the last 30 years we’ve built a vehicle we can fly almost anywhere.’

Review

February 20, 2009

Im very happy to post this review of my cd “living at a higher frequency”  Remy Gravel was involved in the earlier recordings on the cd….. he can be reached here    www.aquariushealth.webhealer.net

Julio Di Benedetto is a revelation.

Genius artist, he has been initiated to the art of sound creation by entities from the 4th dimension for more than 8 years, in the secret of his studio, in a place anciently called Atlantis. What you hear, see and feel does not belong to today’s world. You access a star gate where time does not exist and where ancient civilisations meet those who have not yet emerged. The textures your body will be in contact with does not belong to our elemental table. Intense pleasure is experienced all over, even by the subtlest of your bodies. It’s a time of true spiritual awakening.

The tremendous beauty of the spaces you will explore will transport your soul to such elevated plans that are far beyond the human realms where some dark aliens try to confine our present humanity.

This double album is a symphony to the glory of our extra terrestrial origins, the divines ones. The power of the Gods and the grace of the Goddesses will take you to their dance with the Universe. Be prepared for the journey, do not fear to face them, but enjoy their vastness, their creativity, their joy and trust the message of pure Love, Peace and Power they share with you. Create the proper space for the meeting to take place: secure an undisturbed room, a pair of quality speakers, dim the light, with a straight spine breathe long and deep, gently turn the power on, close your eyes and enjoy the infinite richness of the deepest bliss.

Yes, remember who you are and where you come from, and who are your friends and family. That’s the message.

Behind the names

December 21, 2008

I have been thinking about what the track titles signify on the cd “living at a higher frequency” and why I choose them. some are just random things that come to mind at the time and some have a deeper meaning

track 1 disc 1, forest river sky….. the opening sequence suggested to me an ancient forest or jungle full of life and from that image came the flow of a great river meandering through leading to a deep blue sky with a sun pulsing its sustaining energy.

Ryokan……was a japanese zen monk and poet and I was reading his poems at the time of composing this track. Ryōkan

Back to center…….this track was composed at a turning point in my life, when finally after being out of balance for so long, unknowingly, I had come to a place the was harmonious and serene, I had come back to center.

Love tones…..while writing this track, the rhythm and bass and slow drive of the track suggested to me the multiple pulsing sensuality’s of making love.

Tracks 1 through 7 on Disk 2 of Living at a higher frequency dealt with the passing of my mother, Kim, who the cd is dedicated to.  The tracks are about the loss, the celebration of a life and the coming to terms with……the most important track for me is track 7  writing on water, the track title comes from the book “The Tibetan book of living and dying” by Sogyal Rinpoche.   I want to create a piece of music that reflected the impermanence of life so I tried to compose a track no more than 1 minute long, less if possible….well the finished track as it appears on the cd is anything but that.  writing on water is just over 14 minutes long.  Actually it is quite fitting as my mothers life was just as big, far reaching and spirit free.  On a musical note writing on water shows the power of the Alesis Andromeda synthesizer as most of the track was composed on this keyboard

here & now…….. this title came to me as the track was completed.  we have access too so much human history  and knowledge, with so many future possibilities, the only thing that we can contend with is the here & now.  an appropriate end to the cd and a step towards Living at a higher frequency.

track sequence & timeline

September 9, 2008

the tracks on the cd follow a liner timeline, in other words the first track, forest river sky was record in 2001 and the last track , here and now,  was record in 2006.   This timeline is quiet long and although I originally want to mix all the tracks up to create a different feel and flow, I found that I could not break them up,  I could not mess around with this timeline.  as the person who played and recorded these tracks, I was locked into their own history, and they do have a small history even though it cannot come out in the music, or can it?

drums & software

September 6, 2008

Drum machines like the roland tr-808 and 909 have certainly made their mark in modern music of many styles.  Loved, hated and feared they were and still are classic beat machine for electronic music.  today with so much sample driven sounds they seems refreshing and honest, for machines.

As I am a drummer it has been a strange adventure writing music with the software drum machine/samplers of today.  Native instruments Battery has been my soft drum kit of choice.  laying down rhythm tracks that appear on the cd “living at a higher frequency” I would create an array of unusual computer based rhythms and sounds within Logic and as the song progressed I would at various stages drum along on my roland v-drum kit.  this mostly served to check the groove of the song, how my part flowed with the music and almost disappeared or not.  quiet often I would end up recording my drum part and incorporating it into the work in progress.  Laying down the main groove with actual drumming and then hitting that groove with computer generated percussion proved to be a successful partnership and much of the cd demonstrates this.

In praise of logic…..

August 27, 2008

I have been using Logic audio recording and editing software for the last 10 years.  Not too long ago it was called Emagic’s logic audio (platinum) and I was recording into a PC.  Well that all changed when Apple bought logic and turned it into a mac only app…… apple did extend support for about a year, could be less, but made no more versions for windows based PC.  Best thing that ever happened, now a software app was owned by the same hardware manufacturer. The digital audio workstation came into its own!  Logic Pro as it is called now while in apples care, is like the artist canvas, audio is represent graphically and can be moved, manipulated, cut & pasted, copied, compressed equalized and deleted .  Its a beautiful thing to see sound…..

below are a few screen shots of a few tracks on the cd
